Departments
Establishes and monitors priority projects and tasks, encourages and motivates
members, maintains external relationships (LWD, PSAA), increases employer awareness
of PSG, facilitates communication (departments and members). The Executive Administrative
Assistant attends and takes minutes of the weekly. The minutes are sent electronically
to department directors, and distributed at the following week's meeting. The
recorder is responsible for maintaining the Executive Office directory and applying
changes to the PSG bylaws.
Members attend the Executive Office meeting (on a rotation basis) to report the
status of income and expenses on a weekly basis. Members are expected to be accountable
and knowledgeable to maintain accurate accounting records.
Members of the Training Department conduct each of the five sessions that you had
attended this week. You will have the opportunity to learn and review the material
that you will be presenting. If you are a public speaker, training professional, or
seeking a training position you may want to consider this department.
Marketing is the heart of PSG of New Brunswick and is comprised of 2 groups - Sales
and Marketing. The Sales organization is responsible for account management, telemarketing,
and direct sales. This includes calling employers for job openings and visiting employers
to explain and offer PSG services. The objective is to position the PSG organization to be
included on a company's approved vendor list to gather premium jobs for PSG members.
The Marketing organization creates the marketing campaigns, provides research on the
employer to support the sales organization, and directs job fairs. All incoming job leads
(external or internal) are recorded and made available to all PSG members via a daily E-Mail.
If you have excellent communication skills, a sales or marketing background, or want to enhance
these skills, you many consider this department.
Members of this department are responsible for the implementation and enhancement of
multiple databases containing employer information, job leads, and membership information.
The data structure supports all Marketing and Human Resources needs and requirements.
Enhancements include connecting the Employer information (new job leads) with individual member
career desires. If you have a background in or desire to strengthen Visual Basic programming,
MS Access programming, or SQL concepts, you may want to join this department.
This department controls all aspects associated with running a computer operation.
Additionally, they assist other members who experience problems using applications, perform
system backups, and maintain the membership database. Members have or desire to strengthen
general PC and/or Microsoft background, hardware, PC troubleshooting, or MS Access background.
Members of this department provide office management for the PSG organization.
Members of this department monitor telephone usage, take messages, monitor PSG resources
(paper, toner, etc) provide minor PC repairs when necessary and provide statistical information
to the NJ D.O.L. when required. Members also assist other departments as necessary.
Public relations and Governmental Affairs members are responsible for the publication
of the weekly PSG newsletter 'Hi-Lites', preparation, and
coordination of media public service announcements, and serving as a bridge for
advocacy with government including executive and legislative branches. Writing
or communication skills would benefit this department. If you are interested in
government affairs, desktop publishing, advertising, or communications this is
the department for you!
This department assists PSG members to achieve their career goals by providing a
combination of peer assistance and outside expertise. Members arrange for speakers
to attend the weekly Network Options Workshop (NOW) meeting and lead small groups based
upon specific interests or skill sets to facilitate interaction and support in a small
group network.
Members also maintain the resource library by adding new items when received,
monitor material usage, and attend to overdue books or materials. Members in this
department generally have an interest in working with or leading small groups.
Human Resources Department introduces new members to PSG and explains the
different functions of each department. They monitor Department requirements;
assign new members and provides new members with an onsite tour. Human Resources
member associates apply membership activity changes to the membership database,
in addition to maintaining a directory of each active PSG member's resume.
This department assists the Executive Office in analyzing and providing
recommendations on specific issues that impact the PSG organization. Tasks
and projects range in complexity and duration from a single shift effort to
several weeks worth of effort. Members should have a good command of analytical
and communication skills. |
