Census 2000 Data or New JerseyCounty-To-County Worker Flow Files: 2000Released March 6, 2003These files were compiled from Census 2000 responses to the long-form (sample) questions on where people worked. The files present data at the county level for residents of New Jersey. For New Jersey, any other state, or for the entire nation, there are a number of files to choose from, depending on the sort order and format you may find most useful. The sort order refers to whether the county of residence or the county of work is the main focus. If you are interested in the number of people who live in a county, and want to know where they work, you should download one of the files sorted by county of residence. These files will show you all the work destinations for people who live in each county. On the other hand, if you are interested in the people who work in a county, and want to know where they come from, download one of the files sorted by county of work. These files will show you all the origins for people who work in each county. The files have been created in two formats: plain text and Excel spreadsheet format. The Excel files and the uncompressed plain text files are directly viewable. To look at the data on your screen, click on the underlined link "Excel" or "Uncompressed" for the format and sort order you want. To download an Excel or uncompressed plain text file, hold down the shift key and click on the underlined link. The compressed plain text files are not viewable; they have been zipped for faster downloading. Documentation file (including the record layout) for the text files) Note: In the Census Bureua's review of the Census 2000 County-to-County Worker Flow Files before release, some errors were discovered in a number of the county-to-county flows. These errors have been corrected. However, as a result of the corrections the data in these files may not agree with data previously released in Summary File 3 (SF3) and related products. In particular, there may be differences in the number of people working in the state and/or county of residence between SF3 and similar estimates derived from these files.
The following files for New Jersey were prepared by the New Jersey State Data Center from the County-To-County Worker Flow files. The files are in Microsoft Excel format.
